ADDISCOMBE IN ACTION Addiscombe in Action is an umbrella name for several local community groups and individual residents who are working to make the East Croydon / Addiscombe area an even better place in which to live. It is for constructive action. Everyone living in the East Croydon / Addiscombe area is very welcome to contribute their ideas, energies, time and views. We would love to hear from you. PRACTICAL MEANS OF ORGANISING EVENTS Around 50 people from the East Croydon / Addiscombe area attended the Doing Things Ourselves event in April 2013. People contributed ideas about what actions they would like to take to make our area an even better one in which to live. The emphasis was on action (not just talking). One of those ideas was to set up a Google email group so residents can connect directly with each other. The idea is to give people the tools to make it easy for them to organise events. We have looked into this and decided that for technical reasons a Google email group would not be the most practical way. So - we are developing another solution. Local resident, Richard, is building a website that will give us discussion pages. It will also have an email facility designed to avoid spam and maintain confidentiality of email addresses where people so choose. We hope to email the link out to all who attended the Doing Things Ourselves event for their comments around the end of June. Once we have received comments, the site will be finalised and publicised widely in our East Croydon / Addiscombe area.
