Rip Off Bus Lane
No decent explanation for the existence of the very short bus / tram lane on Addiscombe Road between the top of Canning and Clyde Roads has ever been given.
We think it serves no useful purpose other than as a revenue earner for Croydon Council. Those in the know rat run along Canning Road down to Lower Addiscombe Road and then back up one of the parallel roads (eg Elgin etc).
The fact that it is tidal (just peak hours) makes it doubly confusing. Either it is a no go area or it is not. However, as anyone who has been caught knows, the signage to warn of this expensive hazard is - to say the least - inadequate.
Here's the totality of the signage in Canning Road - too little too late.
